CARTERVILLE – The Logan Operational Staff Association (LOSA) is fully involved in its fall humanitarian project, which kicked off last month and continues this month on the JALC campus.

This year’s focus is a “Cold Weather Clothing Drive,” which benefits children and adults in four different counties in the region – Williamson, Jackson, Franklin and Perry.

Donors are asked to bring new or clean and gently-used winter wear items, such as heavy coats, jackets, hats, gloves, pajamas, and blankets.

The collection will conclude next Friday, Nov. 16.

Event organizer Judi Pastori said LOSA has a long history of sponsoring two humanitarian projects each year.

“In the past, some agencies that have benefited from our efforts include Create-A-Smile, GumDrops, Crayon Connection, American Cancer Society for breast cancer, Thanksgiving food drive, area women’s and homeless shelters, and advocacy centers,” she said.

Pastori said LOSA has also assisted some college employees who have had serious illnesses by sponsoring monetary drives to help maintain their health insurance premium for a period of time.

“We would like to thank staff and students for helping our organization make a difference in the lives of many people through contributions,” she said. “One of our goals at LOSA is encouraging members to exercise their rights and privileges as citizens and to willingly accept leadership in civic affairs.”
