A Vandalia man –Robbie Craig –enrolled in classes this spring semester at John A. Logan College is the new recipient of a $250 scholarship provided by Leathernecks Motorcycle Club International.

Representatives with the club’s local chapter presented the check this week to the JALC Foundation. Craig was identified as a candidate for the scholarship by the college’s Veterans Services Office and was chosen for the award by the Scholarship Committee headed up by Stacy Holloway, Director of Scholarships and Alumni Services at the college.

The Leathernecks club is comprised of former and active Marine Corps personnel and Navy Corpsmen who served with the Fleet Marine Force.

Club spokesman Gerald Hysom said the club’s missions include volunteer work at the Anna Veterans’ Home; VA Medical Center in Marion; Mounds National Cemetery and the Marine Corps League’s Toys for Tots program among others.

“We are not only together because of our past service to our country, but also for our love of motorcycles and our fondness to help other veterans,” Hysom said.

Holloway said the Foundation is “honored” to have the club work with the college in assisting those veteran students attending JALC.
