Crossland Brings Experience to Logan Hoop Squad

Sophomore Connell Crossland has signed a scholarship to play basketball for Logan next year.
A 6-foot-7 forward, Crossland is a graduate of Hazelwood Central High School in St. Louis and played one year of collegiate ball at Highland Community College in Freeport, where he averaged over 11 points per game before making his decision to transfer to Carterville.
“We got a young man who had the opportunity to get a little closer to home by coming here with us,” said Logan head coach Mark Imhoff. “Connell is a perimeter guy. I liken him a bit to Jesse (graduated standout Perry), who developed himself into a good player. Connell has the tools to make himself into a threat both from the perimeter and inside. He can also run the floor well and can shoot. He fits our tempo.”
Imhoff said it’s been a challenge to replace eight regular players from last year’s Great Rivers Athletic Conference championship team but he believes the Vols can still be a force within the league.
“On paper, I like what we’ve got,” Imhoff said. “We’ve got some size, some people who can shoot it and have made ourselves solid at the point guard position. Next season will take some work, but with the addition of sophomore transfers Stan Simpson and now Connell Crossland, I think we have a good shot at being successful.”
