JALC Women Golfers Finish Ninth
The John A. Logan College women’s golf team matched its finish of 2009 with a ninth-place finish at the national tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla. this week, totaling 1,027 (349-339-339) over a three-day period.
The Vols shot a combined score of 339 Thursday for the second straight day and were seven strokes back of eighth-place Tyler, Texas. Host Daytona Beach led wire-to-wire and won the meet going away with an 869.
Logan sophomore Lindsay Kellerman of Pinckneyville tied for 23rd overall in the individual competition. She fired a team-best 78 on Thursday followed by Murphysboro’s Jenny Bernhardt’s 86. Mallory Gentry of Metropolis checked in with an 87 and Mount Vernon’s Talia Campbell earned an 88. Kasey McCammack’s round of 102 was not counted.
Rend Lake finished fifth overall.
