Softball Vols Win Pair from Southeastern Illinois

Make it eight in a row for the John A. Logan College softball team. The Vols swept another doubleheader Tuesday – this time from visiting Southeastern Illinois by the scores of 12-3 and 14-2. Both games were shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule. Read more »

Lake Land Upsets 10th-ranked Vols

Vols’ lefthanded pitcher Mike Guinane wheels and deals in game action Tuesday at home against Lake Land. Logan lost the game 8-5 and Guinane fell to 4-2 on the spring despite recording 10 strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings.

Based on record, the John A. Logan College baseball team is heads and shoulders a better team than Lake Land College. The Vols were 4-1 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference, 21-5 overall and ranked 10th in the nation among Division I junior college teams at the start of the week, while the Lakers were 7-16 overall and 1-2 in league play. About 50 Police Administration students within the Criminal Justice program at John A. Logan College were busy this past week participating in all-day Incident Command System training sessions, which are introductory and general information courses required for public and private emergency responders.
