Lady Vols Throttled in Vincennes
A turnover-prone John A. Logan College women’s basketball squad fell victim to Vincennes, Ind., Wednesday evening, 94-77, in nonconference action.
The Lady Volunteers committed 28 miscues against the nation’s 13th-ranked team, including 18 in the first half of play as Logan fell behind by 12 points at the intermission at 44-32.
Poor shooting was also a factor in the loss as the Lady Vols could only connect on 25-of-74 shot attempts and 4-of-14 from behind the 3-point line.
Sophomore transfer Jordan James was high scorer for Logan with 18 points. Gallatin County product Tiffany Williams followed with 16 points. The team’s leading scorer, DaLita Scott, dropped in 10. Devin London added nine and Meagan Phillips had seven.
“We shot poorly from the field and missed a lot of bunnies in that first half especially,” said Vols head coach Marty Hawkins. “We made a nice comeback midway through the second half in cutting the deficit to five, but could get no closer.”
Now 1-2 on the season, the Lady Vols will return to action next week at home against Mid-Continent University.
