On Wednesday Jeneece Bishop, associate professor of English at John A. Logan College, and her ENG 113 students sponsored the “Walking the Dog Chili Cook-Off” to raise money for their K-9 Project. The event featured entries from JALC students and staff.

Laci Pochie, a secretary in transfer education at the College, took top honors with her secret recipe. Chance McPheron, a freshman from Johnston City, placed second, and Samantha Benefield, a freshman from Herrin, finished third.

“I want to thank our judges: Denis Junge, Mihai Lefticariu, and Kathy Capps and everyone who supported the chili cook-off,” Bishop said. “It was a huge success. We look forward to doing it again next year.”
