“The kids battled back from some adversity early on (Logan trailed 7-0 before rallying) and that ability to come back should help a lot down the road,” said Vols head coach Jerry Halstead. “They now know they can come back and win even if they fall behind early.”

In game two, Logan again fell behind early only to tie the game at 6-6 right before the rain hit thanks to a two-run homer by Trovillion in the bottom of the third.

The Vols are now 7-2 this fall and will play two games next week. On Tuesday, Logan travels to Mayfield, Ky. to take on Mid-Continent University. On Thursday, the Vols make the trek to Centralia and will face last year’s Great Rivers Athletic Conference champion, Kaskaskia.

“There are still some things we need to improve upon, but we are starting to come together as a team. I’m getting a feel for the starting lineup and our pitching rotation,” Halstead said.
